3D Animation: 4 Questions (and Answers) New Clients Always Ask
by Arnie | 8 years ago
Having worked in 3D animation for the better part of my professional career, I’m no stranger to client interaction. Sure, just like everybody, I’ve had a handful of difficult clients, but for the most part, nearly everyone with whom I’ve worked has been awesome.
They’re enthusiastic, excited and engaged in the creation of something their company can truly be proud of. It’s because of this energy that they’ve normally got a few general questions for me and the rest of the Industrial Visualizations (iViz) team about 3D animation.
Have you been toying with the idea of using the innovative medium for the benefit of your business? If so, no need to “officially” schedule a time to come in and chat—I’ll gladly tackle the four most pressing questions clients ask right here, right now:
1) What industries do you normally serve?
With a name like “Industrial Visualizations,” the immediate thought is that we work purely with architects and civil engineers. And while it’s true that many of our clients do come from these kinds of backgrounds, we’re no stranger to other 3D specialities, either:
- Transportation
- Aerospace
- Rail
- Shipping & Logistics
On a more finite level, though, we’re regularly teaming up with project managers, public relations departments and even city planners.
Basically, if you’ve been assigned a large-scale project requiring accurate, concise and communicative media methods, we have the tools and experience to work effectively with you.
2) It looks great, but how much does all of this cost?
This is always the biggest question.
Unfortunately, it’s impossible that I provide a “one size fits all” response to this question in a simple blog post. Depending on the length and complexity of the 3D project you’re looking to bring about, price varies significantly.
With all of this in mind, however, if price is something you’re concerned about, there are a wide variety of ways to keep it low while still producing something incredible.
Simply talk with us about your budget, and we’ll make certain to work within it.
3) We’re somewhat pressed for time—how long does it take?
Similar to price, this is entirely dependent on the length and complexity of your 3D animation.
We always like to take a good, hard look at things before building out a timetable. That way, when we set a deadline, we’re 100% accountable to it.
That said, for the sake of conversation, once given the files we need, a high-quality animation will usually take anywhere between four and eight weeks to finalize.
Remember, though—the more time we’re given, the better the end result, and the lower the cost.
4) How involved will I need to be in our 3D animation project?
Everybody is different.
Some of our clients love to be involved with every step of the 3D animation process. On the flip side of things, others would rather toss a few CAD files our way, preferring to check in only when it’s time for approvals.
In the end, it’s really up to you.
We’re happy to animate in a way that best fits the type of working relationship you’re looking to build—no questions asked.
The End Result
But enough with the questions—after all, it’s the end result that matters most, right?
